Free Printable Summer Scavenger Hunts. 6 options: beach, nature, backyard, camping, playground, and blank scavenger hunts for the kids.
I have a new baby! And while he’s too young for scavenger hunts yet, I’m getting started on stuff to do in the future. And free printable summer scavenger hunts seemed like an easy activity. And since I was creating one, I figured “why not do six?” There are scavenger hunts for various summer activities: beach, nature walk, camping, and playground. There is also one for the backyard. And a blank one so you can make up your own stuff to find.
If you’re looking for stuff to do with the kids this summer, you have to check out my Free Printable Summer Bucket List. It’s not only a long list of ideas, but includes links to tons of activities.
Instructions on Printing
• Print options: regular paper works just fine. If you’re going to use the “Ziploc bag trick” (below), then card stock might work better.
• All of the files are in pdf below. Just hit the “download” button (or pink word “download,” depending upon browser).
• The default size of these is full-page. However, if you want smaller, simply reduce the print size. If you’re not sure on how much to reduce, check out my post “How to Resize Printables to Fit Your Planner.”
Instructions on Playing
Start by downloading and printing the scavenger hunt of choice.
One-Time Use:
If you’re using going to use the regular paper just once, I highly suggest having a sturdy clipboard to hold during the hunt so you won’t be chasing paper around if the wind catches it. (I once chased family history paperwork all over a cemetery…it was not fun.)
If you’re using a clipboard, you might want to tie the marker or pen to the clipboard so it doesn’t get lost.
Multi-Use:
If you want to re-use the scavenger hunt, laminate it or slide it into a page protector. Just remember to use dry-erase markers to be able to wipe off the marks.
Or you can put in a Ziploc bag (tape it in place), and then use the dry-erase markers.
Ways to Play:
Depending on the ages of the kids involved, you can play differently.
For younger kids, take your time and just let them find everything. They’ll have plenty of fun!
Older kids might want to compete. You can set a time limit and see who finds the most (this works best if you know some of the items aren’t available to be found). Or just see who can find everything fastest.
You can also have the kids take a picture of each item. This works really well with older kids.

Blank Scavenger Hunt
I was a very Type A kid. And I would have HATED a scavenger hunt that included stuff that was impossible to find. (For example, not everyone has a birdhouse in their backyard, which is on the backyard scavenger hunt.).
So I decided to make a free printable blank scavenger hunt. The parent fills out all the stuff to find, making it specific for your house/location. Then, the kids can find everything!
